Overview
Tempora provides a temporary email service. We aim to collect and process as little personal data as technically possible. No account is required to use the core service.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask you to register or provide personal information.
- The temporary mailbox password is generated in your browser and never stored or logged.
- Email content is not permanently copied into our database.
What is stored, and where
- Your current mailbox session (address, account id, token, creation and expiry time) is stored locally in your browser so the address survives a refresh. This never leaves your device.
- Which messages you have opened is stored locally in your browser.
- Your theme preference is stored locally in your browser.
Third-party infrastructure
Temporary email infrastructure is powered by Mail.tm. Mailbox creation, message delivery and storage of messages are handled by Mail.tm under its own terms and privacy policy. Tempora does not control Mail.tm's data handling.
Security measures
- Received email HTML is sanitized before display; scripts and dangerous content are removed.
- External images are blocked by default to reduce tracking.
- Links in emails open with
rel="noopener noreferrer". - Authentication tokens are never placed in URLs or logged.
Honesty about limitations
We do not claim the service is 100% anonymous, untraceable or "military grade". Your network, the email infrastructure and the upstream provider remain observable. Temporary email reduces exposure; it does not eliminate it.
Analytics
Tempora is prepared for privacy-conscious analytics that would only record aggregate event counts (such as "mailbox created"). It never sends mailbox addresses, message content, tokens or personal data to analytics. No invasive tracking is enabled by default.
